This May at Cabin John/Brookmont Children’s Program we will focus on the Artist of the Week unit. At the Brookside Gardens the children will make a painting, after choosing the perfect spot, scenery or anything they like from the gardens.

Wake up, Brother Bear!
This new, experiential theatre piece developed and produced by Imagination Stage is an intimate introduction to live theatre for children ages 2-5 years and their teachers or caregivers. The audience is invited into the world of Brother and Sister Bear as they discover the seasons of the year. Children may join in the action throughout the show—Themes of the cycle of the seasons and the dreams that we pursue from day to day and year to year underpin the story which is funny at times but also reflective, gentle, and a delightful exploration for young imaginations

Field Trip to Udvar- Hazy Center, Smithsonian Air and Space Museum

The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, VA. is the companion facility to the Museum on the National Mall. The building opened in December, 2003, and provides enough space for the Smithsonian to display the thousands of aviation and space artifacts that cannot be exhibited on the National Mall. The two sites together showcase the largest collection of aviation and space artifacts in the world.

Pajama Night

Pajama Night is a fun night in which the kids (and siblings) come in pajamas, eat pizza, play, and watch movies. Thanks to the generous volunteering of the teachers (who are there with the kids), parents have a night off and pay a small babysitting fee.

Thanksgiving Lunch

Parents are invited to Cabin John Children’s Program for a Stone Soup Lunch Wednesday, November 25th from 11:30AM to 12:30PM in the preschool classroom.

Stone soup is a European folktale about two travllers who entice the villagers to help to create the “best soup ever” made just from a stone.
